10 Ways To Get More Followers In 2020

10 WAY TO GET MORE FOLLOWERS ON INSTAGRAM IN 2020.jpg

If you are like me, you are planning to make 2020 a big year and have an even better decade. With social media becoming the main source of media, I want to make sure that you go into 2020 prepared. I am going to show you have to grow your following organically on Instagram in 2020.

1- Be Strategic, Creative, and Consistent Strategize.

The best in every field has a strategy in place to help them hit their goals. You'll need a social media strategy. A social media strategy will help you hit your target. Set aside 2-3 hours every week to plan your content. I promise you that it is worth it. It's okay to post in the moment, but it is better to have a well thought out post.

Be consistently creative. You can grow your following if you dare be consistent and creative at the same time. The issue with a lot of creatives & marketers, including myself, is that we are not consistent enough.

2- Research The Best

Research the best in your industry and those who are doing what you want to do. Make sure that they have the type of following & engagement that you want. Look at everything from their captions to how frequently they are posting. Even look at their hashtags. Once you see what they are doing, copy and throw your spin on it. Anything they can do, you can do better. Haha.

3- Use The Right Hashtags

Recently, I read a study that showed that post with no more than 5 hashtags performs better than any post with five or more hashtags. The number of hashtags theory has been going on for years. My opinion is that the use of irrelevant hashtags is what will stop your post from performing how they should. The right hashtags will help people find you and follow you.

Here is a method that I like to use.

Local Hashtag (#dallas, #dallasphotographer)+ Your Industry Hashtag (#photographer, #marketer) + General Hashtag (#positivevibes #blogger)

Make sure that all hashtags are relevant to your post, or else you post will be reported for the wrong use of a hashtag. That is not worth it, and who wants to be "shadow-banned" for trying to get followers?

4- Know Your Audience and Analytics

Use your analytics to the best of your ability. Know what your audience likes, what time they like to be on Instagram, and what type of post that they like. Knowing all of this information will help you post the right content that will increase your reach and engagement. An increase in reach and engagement leads to new followers. To get access to your analytics, your profile must be connected to a Facebook business page or creator's account.

5- Use Geotags

Check-in! People want to know where you are at. Posts with check-in get more engagement than posts without a location. Let people know where you are at. Also, when someone is curious about that place, and they click on the location, you have a chance of getting their attention. New profile visits could lead to new followers.

6- Be You

You are unique. You are creative. In this digital world, it is easy to be someone that you are not. Don't be fake. Be you. If you look like or try to be somebody that you are not, people will see through it. People want unique energy on their timelines. Bring your uniqueness to their timeline and watch how many followers you gain.

7- Make Your Bio and Highlights Entertaining

Imagine your profile being a book. Every post is the content in that book. Your highlights and bio should serve as the back of the book. Give people an expectation of what to receive when they come to your page. Keep it short, simple, and entertaining. New followers love to be entertained and getting to know you.

8- Use All Of The Features

Use every feature that Instagram has if you can. Especially when they (Instagram) roll out a new feature. Whenever Instagram rolls out a new feature, they push it hard. So you can be at the top of people's feed, and your reach can increase when you use the features.

9- Create Engaging Content

Back then, likes was a priority. Now it is time spent on posts, comments, shares, and bookmarks. Try to get a conversation going with and within your post. Post something that will stimulate people's minds. Ask questions, repost viral content, use polls, geotags, and whatever you can to get someone to click on your post.

10- Engage With Your Audience

We all know that one guy that wants to be anti-social on social media after they post. Don't be that guy. Respond to comments and messages, even if they are negative. Be social. Comment on other posts and respond to people's stories. Create relationships. Over time you will see people share your content and comment on your post, which will lead to new followers. If you are a business that will lead to new buyers.
